It would appear that energy saving bulbs aren't as good as they've been cracked up to be. Has anyone seen the information being trickled out in the last few days about them containing mercury? I remember always being told to be careful not to damage fluorescent tubes as they contained something dangerous but thought modern day energy efficient bulbs would be safe. Even with the old fluorescent tubes, we still used to put them out with the household rubbish (but wrapped carefully due to the glass) but now we're being told we should carefully dispose of energy bulbs yet the packaging gives no advice for how to do this. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7172662.stmOfficial advice is that if an energy bulb is smashed, you must vacate the room for 15 minutes.
