My OH and I decided to celebrate my rather nice christmas bonus by trying the Beijing Palace, on the A17 at Gedney. It was a Saturday evening, we didn't book, and although they were busy, they found us a table.
Overall we were very impressed. The waiting staff were very pleasant and efficient. The service was fast, we weren't waiting ages between courses, even though they were busy. Their "3 course all you can eat" system was a little confusing when we first had it explained to us, but soon got the gist of it. In an effort to stop people wasting food, they only let you order two dishes at a time. Very sensible idea, I thought. You can keep ordering dishes though, two at a time. We were a little shocked at the portion size for the main course, it looked a little "nouvell cuisine" on the plate, but to be honest when we had finished we were stuffed, and we didn't go mad and order extra dishes, just one starter, the crispy duck or soup course, and one main course. It was more than enough.
The food itself was excellent. The price was ok too, £16.50 per head. (I think its £12 during the week).
They do have a traditional style menu as well, you don't have to have the "all you can eat" one. We also saw people getting takeaway, and may try that sometime (although we are very happy with our regular one (Sutton House in Long Sutton))
Beijing Palace is well worth a visit, we think.
